The Hibernation Song is Wild Fenns’ second release from their upcoming EP, A Place to Call Home. It’s a song for winter and for difficult days, when the cold and darkness sets in and you lean on good memories to stay positive, remembering that the summer sun will return. We think this time of year especially, we all need a little reminder that warmer days are just over the horizon.
"The second release this year from this glorious Devon Based Duo. This beautiful track is like a comfort blanket of tender harmonies and lapping strings that folds around you on a cold night. It sits, for me, at the moment when the shadows are darkest and the last warm rays of a winter sun are fading." Folk My Life

Wild Fenn are an Indie/Folk band based in Devon, UK. Songwriters Luke Engel and Jess Illingworth love writing songs with beautiful harmonies. Their lyrics often take inspiration from nature and lead the listener to wild places. Wild Fenn are influenced by the likes of Gregory Alan Isokov, Roo Panes, Frank Turner and The Lone Bellow and create music that is both upbeat and grounding.
Wild Fenn’s harmonies are a key part of what makes their live performances special. Luke and Jess have been asked on many occasions if they are siblings because their voices fit together so well. The band take their audience on a journey at each gig, through lyrics talking about things that are important to them including connecting with nature, self worth, wellbeing as well as heartbreak.
Wild Fenn released their debut EP ‘Lost In Another Song’ in September 2024 and played a sold out EP Launch Show at Plymouth Gin Distillery. The band have plenty more exciting music to be released and are planning on putting out their second EP in 2026.
BBC Introducing: South West’s Dan Pascoe is a big fan of the work Wild Fenn have been producing, playing their recent singles and a track from their debut EP on his show. Wild Fenn have performed at a variety of festivals across the South West including: the Great Estate Festival, Tunes In The Park, Little Orchard, Looe Weekender and Salcombe Live.
"A gentile and beautiful way to open the BBC Introducing stage" - Dan Pascoe, BBC Introducing

Wild Hearts is about adventure, freedom, and a connection with nature. The song leads you down a wild road, taking you away from the city, through an old pine gate into the forest. It’s a song about the idea of running with wild hearts and making your name known in the world, despite the challenges you encounter. This song is Wild Fenn’s first release with our newest member, Jess Illingworth, on guitar and vocals.
Check out the live session of our latest single Wild Hearts on YouTube. We filmed this in Plymbridge Woods (surrounded by lots of wild garlic!). Thank you to Louis Goldman for the videography.

Luke Engel (main vocals, harmonies, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin) - Luke loves being outdoors and you can often find him wandering in wild places looking for cool mushrooms and inspiration for his songwriting.

Jess Illingworth (main vocals, harmonies, acoustic guitar, mandolin) - Jess is known by the rest of the band as ‘one take Jess’. She loves walking by the coast and writing lyrics that reach out to people.

Matthew Gordon Price (percussion) - Matt, who almost exclusively wears black and a pair of very round sunglasses, loves any excuse to get out the djembe drum.

Olly Parker (bass, harmonies) - Olly is the most laid back member of Wild Fenn and enjoys sneaking funky bass lines into the songs.
